Republicans back in the day were good people. They were just traditionalists who honestly cared for this country. However, the GOP has been hijacked, no more like raped and hostally taken over by religious fundamentalists who care nothing for this country and only care about themselves and their moronic and fanatical ideologies. Republicans have been on the wrong side of every issue of concern to ordinary Americans; Social Security, the war in Vietnam, equal rights, civil liberties, church- state separation, consumer issues, public education, reproductive freedom, national health care, labor issues, gun policy, campaign-finance reform, the environment and tax fairness. No political party could remain so consistently wrong by accident. The only rational conclusion is that, despite their cynical "family values" propaganda, the Republican Party is a criminal conspiracy to betray the interests of the American people in favor of plutocratic and corporate interests, and absolutist religious groups.

They lost Congress, then the White House republicans actually have plenty of ideas. That is the problem. The party's ideas about economic issues, social issues and just about everything else — are not popular ideas. They are extremely conservative ideas tarred by association with the extremely unpopular George W. Bush, who helped downsize the party to its extremely conservative base.

Forcing businesses to provide healthcare will drive many small businesses to close, leaving the economy more broken than it is presently. Rather than concentrating on helping small businesses stay afloat to hire more unemployed Americans, Obama has chosen to concentrate on a healthcare overhaul which will bankrupt the backbone of our economy.

When I look back on the Bush years, I think of the lies. There were so many. Lies about the war and lies to cover up the lies about the war. Lies about torture and surveillance. And while this wasn't as readily apparent until President Obama took office, it's now very clear that the Bush years were all about kicking the can down the road – either ignoring problems or, even worse, creating them and not solving them. This was true of a huge range of issues including the economy, energy, health care, global warming – and of course Iraq and Afghanistan.
